Mounir Nasraou, father of Lamine Yamal, has given one of the most reserved responses in football history when commenting on a viral image featuring his son and Barcelona legend Lionel Messi.
Yamal has stood out as the top teenage player at the 2024 UEFA European Championship in Germany, leading the Spanish national team to their first final since 2012. A long-forgotten picture of the 16-year-old has reemerged on social media following his outstanding performances for La Roja at the Euros.
According to a report by Sport Bible, the image, which has resurfaced after Yamal’s stellar performances, shows a 20-year-old Messi participating in a UNICEF charity calendar photoshoot, where he is seen bathing a young Yamal. When Nasraou was asked whether Messi bathing Yamal was a blessing, his response surprised many football enthusiasts.
“They are coincidences in life — a blessing from Leo to Lamine? or from Lamine to Leo. For me, my son is the best,” he remarked.
Nasraou also expressed his gratitude to everyone who has contributed to his son’s development. “Lamine is a special case; he has matured before the others, thanks to all of Spain, La Masia, and friends,” he added.
