Americans condemn the US actions in Baghdad. Mobs rushed out to the streets across the US on Saturday to condemn the nonsensical action by the Trump Administration which killed Iran’s four-star General in Baghdad. They also protested against the decision by the Trump Administration to send more than 3000 soldiers to add to the US forces in the Middle East.
“No Justice, no peace. US out of the Middle East,” chanted by the 200 plus protesters in Chicago. They held signs and banners that read, “Stop Bombing Iraq” and “US Troops out of Iraq.”
The Act Now to Stop War and End Racism, which is an anti-war coalition based in the US, in collaboration with various other organizations, planned around 70 protests across the country to condemn the killing of Iranian General. They demanded that the US troops withdraw from Iraq to end the decades long, what they called war on Iran, as told by the spokesperson Walter Smolarek.
According to the spokesmen more than 500 protesters participated in the protest in Philadelphia. Besides, demonstrations and protests were reported outside the White House and in Time Square in New York City.
“Trump says more war. We say no war,” and “No more US attacks. Iraq, we got you back” were the slogans chanted by the protesters in Cincinnati.
Another interesting thing in this regard was the general support to the protesters form the passing Drivers on Fountain Square who gave honks and thumbs-up gestures to support the protesters in their peace-loving demonstration.
Mike Jasko of the Party for Socialism and Liberation, who was at the Cincinnati protest said, “Both Democrats and Republicans have coordinated efforts and combined to wreak havoc on this entire region. What we’re seeing with the airstrikes of the assassination of an Iranian general is that we’re seeing tensions escalate, and they want another war.”
Likewise, about 50 people protested against US strike, protested in Berlin, as reported by the Coalition Berlin, which collaborated in organizing the demonstration.
Thursday night January 02, 2020, the Pentagon launched an airstrike which killed an Iranian military commander, Gen. Qassem Soleimani, at Baghdad’s International Airport. The Defense Department told it launched the attack as a “defensive action” against Soleimani, who it said was contemplating more attacks on American diplomats and armed forces.
President Trump denied the charges that the killing of the Iranian General was part of his wish to start an open and full-fledged war with Iran.
“We took action last night to stop a war. We did not take action to start a war,” said President Trump on Friday.
President Trump’s Actions’ Timeline and his recent statements have garnered adverse opinions and negative reviews from the people in general. His recent alleged statement is quite alarming for the US people. This is rigorously condemned on social media. US asked Iran (Swiss does the diplomatic stuff for the US there), according sources in Tehran, to limit its response to the assassination of General Soleimani to a “similar response.” This has created a lot to confusion and debate among the Americans who are against this whole war stuff. They think that this means, if confirmed, Trump is offering to Iran the life of a US four-star General. The bottom line is that across the country, Americans condemn the US actions in Baghdad.
